Ford Malaysia has introduced the new 2020 Mustang Shelby. The new Mustang is equipped with “the world’s most powerful V8 engine,” making it the highest performing street-legal car in the company to date.

Ford Mustang Engine
This American muscle car icon offered in two variants in Malaysia. Downsized four-cylinder 2.3L EcoBoost turbocharged and GT 5.0 V8 priced at RM488,888 and RM598,888, respectively. Remember that this is the first time this pony car has been made available in right-hand drive form.
The turbocharged 2.3-liter GTDI engine on the entry-level model churns out 317 hp at 5,500rpm and 432 Nm torque. In comparison, the range-topper features a good ol’ naturally aspired 5.0-liter American V8 rated at 6,500rpm at 416 hp and at 4,250rpm at 530Nm. Not surprisingly, the Malaysian market Mustangs ‘transmission option is limited to a six-speed automatic with Select-Shift, driving only the rear axle, which is, for the first time-multi-link independent rear suspension.
According to the company, these numbers make the engine “the world’s most powerful and torque-dense supercharged V8 engine in production” and make the 2021 GT500 “the most powerful street-legal Ford ever.”
Ford Mustang Exterior Design
The style, as classic as ever, hasn’t got much in the way. There are new LED headlamps and rear lights, a new bonnet with additional air scoops. The performance metrics are immediately given as standard on all models in the instrument cluster. The Accelerometer shows g-forces lateral and longitudinal, acceleration times, and lap times, plus starting automatic and countdown. Features such as electronic line-lock and starter control are also included. Electronic line-lock keeps the front brakes locked while Mustang’s rear tires are in gear to warm. Start control integrates brakes, traction control, and powertrain control to help ensure consistent, smooth starting.
Safety
When a tire has stopped spinning under intense braking, ABS brakes automatically detects and modulates the brake pressure to allow the tire to rotate. This improves the ability of vehicles to turn while braking. There is Stability Control, which automatically detects when cars have reached handling limits and decrease engine power and pick brakes to help prevent the driver from losing control of the vehicle.

Overall, these updates have improved the new Mustang range, no doubt. The automatic gearbox allows the car crisper to drive, although, at this price point, the looks and noise give it curb appeal, which cannot be match. It’s not complicated, but it’s still great fun. Yeah, like a convertible, too. The best all-round option is probably an EcoBoost coupe with Magneride dampers and a comfortable, robust manual gearbox if you care about driving.
