Mazda Malaysia offers the Japanese SUV for the entry-level 2.0 2WD GL version in 4 variantions, with prices starting at RM135,266 (OTR without insurance). The 2.5 2WD petrol version bears a price tag of RM161.657 for those who want higher engine power.
Two petrol engines and a 6-speed automatic transmission – 162 hp Skyactiv-G 2.0 and 192 hp Skyactiv-G 2.5 – start on the powertrain. The 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter models of the Mazda CX5 petrol are available in two-wheel drive mode only.
The 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that churns out 175hp at 4,500rpm and 420Nm of torque is the range-topping CX-5 in Malaysia. The Skyactiv-D Mazda CX5 can either have the front-wheel or all-wheel drive shape. All engines are coupled to the automatic transmission of the Mazda six-speed torque converter type. The essential feature in all Skyactiv engines is idle start/stop.
Mazda CX5 Malaysia Interior
The Mazda CX5 boasts an interior that is as luxurious as it is a well-appointed-an enjoyable surprise for this price range where one might be forgiven for expecting much less. Air conditioning, remote keyless entry, cloth-cut seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are available in the Sport entry-spec model, with improvements to dual-zone climate control, sliding glass moonroof, leather-cut seats, and front-seat heating in the center of the range.
The front seats are exceptionally comfortable, with enough room to comfort a six-foot-something passenger, even without moving their seat back all the way. The CX5 rear seat is suitable for three kids. Although the seat itself is comfortable and supportive, the driver’s seat could do with a little more strengthening and lumbar support for those long coastal road trips.
The Signature trim offers total leather treatment to the cabin, improves the infotainment system, and overall proves to be beautifully luxurious and comfortable. Space is adequate, with the capability to seat five passengers, although a long-legged occupant will not be pleased in the rear center seat for too long. It’s easy to get in and out, with the CX5 looking more like a sedan than a bulky SUV that needs you to haul up and down.
Mazda Connect is the in-house infotainment software built across the Mazda CX5 range that includes hands-free Bluetooth, HD Radio, and a full-color, seven-inch touchscreen monitor mounted on the dashboard in all but the top-spec model. Notably absent from the entry-spec model are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Mazda has nailed the design for how to look like a crossover-SUV-at least in our view. Finding the balance between striking amazing looks that also express an aspect of athleticism without being blocky, the CX5 has curves in all the right places and features the iconic, assertive grille that boldly proclaims the Mazda emblem.
Driven headlights are included from the base trim, while Driven fog lamps on, and standard on higher trims can be mounted. 17-inch Grey Metallic alloy wheels are standard for the lower-level models, with 19-inch Grand Touring pieces and up. A body-colored rear roof spoiler and dual-exhaust outlets are available on all trims, while the mid-range Grand Touring model features a power sliding glass moonroof.
As a crossover SUV, the CX-5 slips somewhere between significant and compact dimensions, with main measurements being 179.1 inches long, 83.3 inches wide with mirrors, 65.4 inches high (minus 0.1 inches for AWD versions), and 106.2 inches wheelbase. Land clearance for some soft-roader swagger is 7.5 inches, but not enough to go off the beaten track. For the most substantial variant of the CX-5, the curb weights vary from 3.541 to 3.825 lbs.
