The new Accord exposes a more streamlined outfit than before, complemented by a sweeping roofline with a fastback-like design. Honda Civic, the big sedan features slim headlamps flanked by a large chrome wing that sits over an extended, upright grille, adopting cues from the current generation. There is also a kinked window line, upswept rear panel, wraparound taillights and integrated twin exhaust outlets that are part of the exterior styling
The Compact measures 4,901 mm in length and 1,862 mm in width by weight, making it 34 mm shorter and 12 mm wider than before. The roofline stands at 1.450 mm lower than before, leading to a 10 mm lower centre of gravity than before, whereas the 2.830 mm wheelbase has increased by 55 mm.
Under the bonnet, the latest model is having the same 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo four-cylinder petrol engine as the one already on sale here in the Civic and CR-V. Like these two versions, however, the Accord’s mill produces higher performance, delivering 201 PS at 5,500 rpm and 260 Nm between 1,600 and 5,000 rpm
The Powertrain produces 201 PS and 260 Nm of torque in this state of tune. Acceleration for the 1.5 TC is about 9 seconds from a standstill to 100 km / h, and for the 1.5 TC-P is about 9.1 seconds. Both models tend to be electronically limited to 190 km / h, and both models are coupled with automatic transmission of a CVT type. Nothing unexpected from the Honda engineers, but a reliable power-train that has been demonstrated in other Honda models.
The Honda Accord 2020 is fitted with full-LED headlamps with daytime running lights, LED taillights and fog lamps, 17- (1.5 TC) or 18-inch (1.5 TC-P) alloy wheels, keyless entry and start (with remote engine start), four front and rear parking sensors (eight total), and a multi-angle reverse camera.
There’s an 8-inch Advanced Display Audio head unit with 10 speakers for the cabin, a subwoofer as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Certain products inside include dual-zone rear-ventilated climate control, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster panel, leather upholstery, and powered front seats (eight-way memory driver, four-way passenger).
The feature set includes Lane Departure Alert (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), while the Low Speed Follow (LSF) function is a new addition to the tenth-gen vehicle.
The new Honda Accord 2021 in Malaysia comes with a protection ranking of five stars from ASEAN NCAP. The Honda Accord 2021 list of standard equipment includes the Honda Sensing safety package and driver-assistive technologies.
Which include Pedestrian Sensing Collision Mitigation Braking SystemTM (CMBSTM), Lane Keeping Assist, Low-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR).
The range-topper also benefits from LaneWatch, a 360-degree camera, Cross-Traffic Control, Smart Parking Assist System with rear brake assist and a tyre deflation alert system as well as the Honda Sensing package.
Due to its body construction and advanced safety technologies of the next generation, Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACETM), the Accord earns a five-star NHTSA overall vehicle ranking in its NCAP safety tests.
While the Honda Accord is late for the party, it has all the right ingredients-understated, but beautiful looks, a lovely cabin, generous safety equipment and a powerful engine.
And as shocking as it might sound, it will give the Accord a try for those who need to be chauffeured around because it manages to match if not beat the Camry at its own game.
