BMW Malaysia 2020

BMW Malaysia was founded in August 2003 and is responsible for local and regional matters. The business, with four principal functions, is an essential part of the Asian network of the BMW Group.

These functions are carried out by the National Sales Company (BMW Malaysia Sdn Bhd), which distributes BMW and MINI automobiles and BMW motorcycles; the Company Data Centre, one of three global hubs for end-to-end IT services; a Regional Training Centre, where specialists from around the BMW world are trained; and a Parts Distribution Center in Port Tanjung Pelepas, which serves 19 markets in the Asia Pacific.

BMW has built a reliable platform since it entered into Malaysia, complemented by the professional support and dedication shown by the BMW partners in Malaysia. With a good and stable political climate, some of the region’s best infrastructure, and a broad talent pool, Malaysia serves as a firm base for the growth plans for the BMW Group in Asia.

How BMW Names its Cars

BMW uses an alphanumeric name scheme in Germanic form. Models mostly have one Sequence No. 1-8. (Note that series names are not hyphenated in the same way as Mercedes-Benz classes: 3 Series versus E-Class.) A more extensive odd-numbered series indicates a larger vehicle. Even-numbered series tend to be variants in body type. The second two numbers represent how large the engine is in a model name. More significant quantities, however, do correspond to larger engines. The letter accompanying the number (e.g., 340i) indicates which engine class the vehicle is in. SUVs are branded “X” variants; “Z” models are roadsters.

There are some peculiarities to the program. The letter I may mean electric (i3, i8, for example). But if the latter comes after the number (340i), it means “fuel injection” and a petrol engine. The letter “X” can indicate an AWD or an SUV. Within the series, there are “M cars” built by the M division and cars with “M,” which only have some unique tuning and styling. There’s also a separate company, Alpina, that manufactures BMWs made and marketed by BMW with high performance.
